In this role

We’re looking for a Finance Assistant to come and join our scaling finance & ops team. This role will be critical in ensuring that our transactional finance runs smoothly, having responsibility for our purchase and sales ledgers on a daily basis. You will be working closely with the Finance Manager on the month-end close, and naturally, as part of a small close-knit team, be gaining exposure to the entire finance function.


Requirements

Day to day, you will:
  • Be responsible for our sales ledger and work closely with our customers to ensure Ably are paid on time

  • Be responsible for our purchase ledger and working closely with managers and key stakeholders to gain approval for invoices

  • Management of bank reconciliations

  • Responsible for balance sheet reconciliations

  • Support with month-end duties, taking ownership of journal entries and prepayments

  • Support with the production of monthly management accounts

  • Manage our expense process in Spendesk

  • Update the fixed asset register

  • Manage the payment of any credit cards and bills, and ensure they’re reconciled within Xero

  • Manage our invoices inbox and follow up with any outstanding queries, double-checking that all of the data and bank details are accurate

  • Be responsible for some xero reporting, sharing any insights with the wider team.

  • Supporting with VAT

  • Supporting the Finance Manager with the day-to-day activities

 

It would be great if you have:
  • Experience working in a AP/AR or Finance Assistant role

  • Bachelors / graduate degree in Economics, Maths, Finance or equivalent

  • Experience using Xero

  • Ability to learn and adapt to change quickly, and work in a fast-paced, challenging environment

  • A desire to learn and grow with the business

  • Have started, or would like to start, studying for you ACCA/CIMA qualification

 
It would be nice if you have:
  • Experience working in a startup environment

  • Experience using GSuite, particularly Google Sheets

  • Have experience working in a SaaS/ subscription based business
